During April 3-4, Chinese energy executives and policymakers gathered in Shanghai with more than 300 global investors, government leaders and entrepreneurs to discuss innovative approaches to solving China's dramatic energy needs. The Kia X Games Asia 2007 Come to China
ESPN is organising China's first extreme sports event, the Kia X Games Asia 2007, to be held in May 2007.

Considered the pinnacle of global action sports competition, the event will showcase 200 of Asia's and the world's best action sport athletes as they compete in BMX freestyle, aggressive in-line skating, skateboarding and sport climbing. Upstream Shanghai is going all out to support the event with media relations.

IKEA Celebrates 50 Years of the EU - In China!
IKEA, the world's best known store offering beautifully designed home furnishings at reasonable prices, held a ceremony to celebrate the European Union's 50th anniversary at IKEA's Beijing Store.

Ambassadors from 15 EU countries distributed cakes to participants. It was the first time that the EU has celebrated its birthday in China. Upstream did the PR for the event.

The Chinese Burger Kingdom Expands
Burger King's recently opened a new restaurant in Shanghai's Super Brand Mall.

As well as producing the media invitations and on-site support, Upstream arranged an opportunity for the media to see how BK's Whoppers are flame grilled to perfection.

Upstream also promoted a BK eating contest that attracted a range of TV and print media.

Kohler Taps Upstream in China
Kohler, the stylish kitchen and bathroom design company, has opened their new signature store in Nanjing. This is Kohler's seventh signature showroom in China and occupies a total space of 1,200m2 over three floors. Upstream did the PR for the event and also facilitated the CEO's visit to the store.

JP Morgan Turns to Upstream for Corporate Challenge Support
The JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge returns to Singapore for on fourth year this 3rd May. A road race which is open to teams of full-time employees from businesses, corporations and government agencies, the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge attracted over 11,300 participants last year. The Singapore event is part of the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Chase series which has been organised in cities throughout the world for the past 31 years. Upstream has been appointed to manage all media liaison and PR activities. Upstream also successfully assisted the organisers in sourcing an official media sponsor.

O2 Xda Atom Life Launch
02 launched their new Xda Atom Life mobile at a fabulous event in Hong Kong. The major features of the venue setup included Xda Atom Life experience booths, a product showcase, DJ, "personality themed" drinks and models who mingled with the guests to introduce the new handset to them. Upstream Hong Kong was involved with on-site support.

Nokia Successfully Trials Anti-Counterfitting Technology in China
Nokia's NFC technology is a short-range, contactless technology that was trialed in China as means to identify illegally produced fireworks and firecrackers. It can also be applied to a range of sectors where strict quality or product control is required, such as pharmaceuticals, food, alcohol and automobile parts. Upstream Shanghai provided the PR support for the press conference announcing this successful trial.

Youth Events and Music Downloads for an International Phenomenon
Wild Animus, a collection of music and artworks that express the creativity of Rich Shapero has officially landed in China. Upstream Shanghai coordinated a multi-faceted test campaign including development of a Chinese website (www.wildanimus.cn) offering free downloads, a mobile WAP site, buzz generating events and an exclusive party. With thousands of downloads so far, the campaign is likely to be extended to Beijing and other Chinese cities.

Expanded Network to Capture New Revenue Opportunities
Upstream's Asia-Pacific network has been extended through the acquisition of an Australian PR business with major clients such as Linksys and Skype. The £800,000 cash and paper acquisition is in line with Upstream's aims of positioning large overseas corporations moving into China while building a stronger presence in the wider Asia-Pacific region. The deal completes March 31 and the firm will be called Upstream Australia.

Having a significant presence in Australia will enhance our ability to drive business throughout the network and serve clients region wide - both within Australia itself and for Australian clients moving into China.
